Tony’s LCC Update 8/31/18

Dear LCCers, I pray that all of you are well and that our Lord is blessing you spiritually. I’m sure you pray that for yourself, too. Now, how would He do that, bless us spiritually? Perhaps a passage of Scripture is uplifting to us. Or maybe something good happening (the check is in the mail, a close parking spot was available). Maybe an inward peace from His Holy Spirit. What about a car accident? Or a pain that drives us to the doctor? Or a project we’ve worked on for several days at work being rejected? “No”, we think, “those are bad things; those are not blessings.”

Charles Spurgeon (one of the greatest preachers who ever lived) wrote, ” O blessed hurricane that drives the soul to God and God alone!” Ahh, could it be? Hurricanes wreck boats and flood houses and costs millions or billions–even take lives! But, when nothing else is available, and we are completely impotent, when there is literally nowhere else to turn, and we, broken, pliable, ask our Father to help, then even a hurricane can be a blessing!

Have you been going through a “hard time” lately? Perhaps our Father is leading us to a blessing! An old song says, “with Christ in the vessel, I smile at the storm”! The Lord says, “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you”(Hebrews 13:5). Whatever you are going through right now, He is here.

I hope you will plan to join us on Sunday! We’ll plan to study God’s Word at 9:30 am in Sunday School, and then worship together at 10:45 am. Read 1 Cor 12, a wonderful passage about our shared relationship in the Body of Christ.

Our Homecoming is drawing closer—Sept 16! Our theme is “Forever Family”, and we want to encourage everyone to plan to join us. We’ll have a Work Day in prep on Sept 8.

Love to all—
