Tony’s LCC Update 3/8/19

Dear LCCers, A bit of personal news to start: Sophie Joy Dyer was born early this morning, just after midnight, 7 lbs, 15 oz, 20″! Alissa and Joe Dyer are the happy parents, and Debbie and I are the very blessed and thankful grandparents! We rejoice in this birth and praise God that all are well. (See the attached photo of a proud Daddy.) Speaking of little ones (a bit older than Sophie), Allison and about 20 adult helpers had a marvelous event last Saturday, a 1 day “Heaven on Earth Retreat” for children! Everything went wonderfully well. A group of children from the Albany Christian Church came and participated in the fun, and there was a large group of LCC kids participating in fun, music, worship, and very creative decorations. Thanks to all who helped and contributed financially. Please thank and congratulate Allison when you see her, she really worked hard to make this happen, and I am so grateful! Here are some big upcoming church events:
  • March 16, Ladies Mystery Fun Day. I think this Sunday is the last day to sign up.
  • March 23, Free Lunch! We plan to raise $1.000 and feed 300, for free! Mark your contributions “Bread.” A sign up sheet for workers (and YOU are needed!) is in the Foyer. We need cooks, assemblers, and distributors.
  • March 30, Churchwide Work Day, 9 am-12 pm. Lunch provided.
We plan to continue our series on the Gospels this Sunday. Josh preached on the Prodigal Son a couple of weeks ago, definitely Jesus’ most famous and important story. Well, if that one is Story #1, the one I plan to preach on Sunday is Story #1A, “The Good Samaritan”! Read Luke 10:25-37. Remember on Saturday night to move your clocks ahead 1 hour. A bit more personal news to close: last Sunday marked my 10th Anniversary of serving with you at LCC! Hard to believe how quickly the years go by. We’ve shared a lot, you and I. Tears and laughter and a big chunk of our lives. I am grateful. It has been an honor to be with you. I thank each of you for your prayers and kindnesses expressed to Debbie and to me. I love you all and look forward to more and better days to come! I pray that the greatest days of LCC are just ahead! God bless you all. Tony
