Tony’s LCC Update 2/9/19

Dear LCCers, As you know if you’ve been around our church for awhile I tend not to speak out much about political matters. We have a diverse group of people in our church family, and many different points of view are here. But sometimes I must speak. The recent national disturbance concerning abortion, particularly so-called late-term abortion, is one of those times. The law recently enacted in NY, and the one considered (but I think for now tabled) in VA strike me as being wrong and immoral. (This seems like a fair summary of both the NY and VA legislation:https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/02/new-york-and-virginia-push-expand-abortion-rights/581959/). I am pro-life. I believe we must protect the lives of innocent children. We should not ridicule or shame women who, under pressures or circumstances we know little about, may have had abortions. I am thankful that the love and grace of our Lord Jesus is available to all and any of us, whatever our issues, and whatever our brokenness. I wanted you to know how I feel. I think we should speak out to our elected representatives. I think there are times when Christians must speak out, whether the culture wants to hear what we have to say or not. I think we must “speak the truth in love”(Ephesians 4:15), even if it is hard or costly. Life is precious. Life is a gift. Our Father has given us life, and it is valuable. All lives have worth. “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”(Psalm 139:13-14) I love you all and look forward to seeing you Sunday– Tony
