Tony’s LCC Update 10/19/18

Dear LCCers,
Some of you will remember that back in July I was supposed to go to church with my mother one Sunday, but the “shingles” intervened. Well, this Sunday we are going to try it again! I plan to go to church with my mother. Josh will be preaching for us at LCC, and I encourage you to be here to praise the Lord and be blessed by his message!
My Sunday School class, the Welcome Class, did a marvelous job this past Sunday at the Parents with Children Luncheon, and I thank them all!
Another service project is coming where ALL of us can get involved: our Thanksgiving Meal project! We will be feeding many, many people on Nov 22, and there is a meeting right after church this Sunday to help get this task started. This is a great way to get involved in the community and serve Jesus. Also after church this week there is a College 101 financial planning workshop where Elizabeth Umberger will be sharing very helpful info. See Josh or Elizabeth if you’d like to attend.
Another project that is coming will be on Oct 31, Halloween. Now, we don’t really care about Halloween, after all. But it falls this year on a Wednesday. So, we plan to do our “Trunk or Treat” event that night, and we will be using the entire congregation as evangelists! There will be many, many visitors that come on our property that night, and we are going to share the Gospel with them, and share info, brochures, etc., about LCC with them. This is a great opportunity. We need helpers of every sort–see Allison or Josh if you’d like to volunteer.
It’s been another hard week prayer-wise for our flock. Our sister in Christ, Dorie Botteicher, passed away, Barbara Crowther had hip surgery, Karen Throckmorton’s daughter, Jennifer had an emergency c-section, Jeff Stephens has a nephew who is quite ill, Kandy Davidson has a cousin who had surgery, and Mac Scoggins remains in ICU in serious condition. But, Scott Phillips, Shawn Ferguson, Katherine Keahey, and Linda Proctor got to go home, and Karen’s daughter and her new baby are doing well! Pray!
